Tory press officer on blogs

The reported conversation is entertaining to read for the sheer lack of interest displayed by the press officer. With respect to Tory Politico, however, it sounds rather like the former was having a bad day rather than it being an iron Conservative Party press office rule not to distribute press releases to independent bloggers. I don’t have any inside information, but it would be a rather peculiar political communication strategy to completely disregard engaged listeners.
Tory Politico could be right, of course, in taking the conversation at face value. It would be very interesting to know what the strategic assumptions underpinning the exclusion of independent bloggers could be. Or is it plain lack of interest?
Anyone with any thoughts on this?
